Emerging British band Wunderhorse are making a comeback with their new album ‘Midas’. It's a long-awaited album, following the success of their first opus, Cub, released in 2022, and the long tour that followed, including support slots for established artists such as Fontaines D.C., Pixies, Sam Fender, Foals... In fact, they'll be accompanying Fontaines D.C. on their arena tour across Europe in October. ‘I want to make you feel like you're in the room with us’. And in 10 songs and 40 minutes, Wunderhorse capture the raw power and energy that have made them one of the most formidable bands of recent years. With rough hooks, unfiltered noise and a ferocious melodic sensibility, ‘Midas’ tears up the script of traditional second albums and establishes the band as an endlessly addictive and exciting generational talent. At the end of 2022, the release of their debut album ‘Cub’ saw the singles ‘Purple’ and ‘Leader of the Pack’ dominate the radio airwaves. Landmark shows filled Glastonbury's Woodsies Tent (FKA John Peel Stage) and sold out London's Kentish Town Forum months in advance, following tours with Pixies and Fontaines D.C. and stadium appearances with Sam Fender, signalling the band's arrival as one of the UK's most prominent and exciting new guitar bands. With Grammy Award-winning producer Craig Silvey (The Rolling Stones, The National, Florence + The Machine) on board for their second album, the band set out to do something different. Their aim - in the same studio where Nirvana recorded ‘In Utero’ and PJ Harvey recorded the Mercury Prize-nominated ‘Rid of Me’ - was to step outside their comfort zone. ‘There's absolutely no cheating on this record,’ Slater concludes, ‘it's not meant to be perfect; it's meant to be a snapshot, even if it is a slightly ugly portrait. That's how it was then, and that's how you'll see it now. And you feel like you're right there in the room with them.
