Brooklyn’s hip-hop duo Heltah Skeltah and their landmark debut album Nocturnal are back on vinyl for the first time since its original release on June 18, 1996. This latest Coalmine Reissues release — under license from Universal Music Enterprises — brings Nocturnal’s gritty soundscapes and masterful wordplay back to life, allowing fans both old and new to experience the record that helped shape the sound of ‘90s hip-hop.

Since its release, Nocturnal has held a significant place in the canon of East Coast hip-hop, as Heltah Skeltah (made up of Ruck and Rock) delivered a dark, hard-hitting sound that resonated with hip-hop purists and newcomers alike. Produced by a who’s who of collaborators from Da Beatminerz, Shawn J. Period, E-Swift and more, Nocturnal introduced audiences to Heltah Skeltah’s raw lyricism and unique chemistry.
