Originally released in February 1999 through the legendary independent label Southern Records, The Bed Is In The Ocean is the third studio album by the Boston-based outfit Karate and an absolute masterpiece of late-'90s indie rock. On this release, the trio led by Geoff Farina reached a perfect, mature equilibrium. The band seamlessly fused the raw ethos and emotional urgency of golden-era post-hardcore and emo with sophisticated jazz fusion chords, tight math-rock time signatures, and melancholic slowcore textures.
