New York electro-punk quartet Lip Critic return with Theft World, a frantic and exhilarating second album where hardcore, industrial electronics, synth-punk, noise and warped pop collide in spectacular fashion.

Born out of a bizarre real-life case of identity theft involving frontman Bret Kaser, the album turns paranoia, obsession and the idea of theft into a surreal world of its own — where money, identity, desire and even attention can feel like things waiting to be stolen.

Musically, Theft World is all nervous energy and controlled chaos: pounding drums, distorted synths, glitchy textures, breakbeats and Kaser’s manic, confrontational vocals constantly pushing against each other. Yet beneath the noise, there’s an impressive sense of precision, with the band moving effortlessly between hardcore aggression, club rhythms, industrial abrasion and strangely infectious hooks.

Following their acclaimed 2024 debut Hex Dealer, Lip Critic sound more focused without losing any of their unruly spirit. Theft World is abrasive, weird, catchy and completely wired — a record that captures the overstimulated, paranoid feeling of living in a world where everything seems to be up for grabs.
