Originally released on CD in December 1994, Love Me is the second full-length album by Japanese artist Noriko Sekiguchi, aka nOrikO. Entirely self-produced and mixed, it finds her weaving together trip-hop, ambient electronics, acid house and French pop, with soft, almost whispered vocals that feel both intimate and slightly detached. The album moves effortlessly between hazy club rhythms and melancholic, dreamlike passages, with tracks like “Love Is…” and “Slave to the Computer” capturing its distinctive mix of warmth and electronic cool. Its reinterpretation of Michel Polnareff’s “Love Me, Please Love Me” turns a French pop classic into something weightless and hypnotic. A quietly adventurous record from Japan’s ’90s underground, Love Me finally received its first vinyl release in 2025.
