Released on Mutant, the triple LP “OST Odyssey” brings together Ludwig Göransson’s original music for Christopher Nolan’s film “The Odyssey” and translates the film’s musical concept into a physical edition on vinyl. The compositions range from subtle, archaic motifs to expansive, atmospheric passages; the edition presents the score as an autonomous sound work that carries the film’s narrative arc.

In shaping the overall sound, Göransson deliberately moved away from classical orchestration, instead seeking out historical sound sources and electronic textures. In concrete terms, a large number of bronze-like gongs and old string instruments were used as sound sources, giving the score an earthy, immediate presence, while synthesizers create layers and density. This blend yields a score that fuses mythic timbres with modern production.

Ludwig Göransson brings his distinctive profile as a multiple award-winning film composer to the project; his previous collaborations with Christopher Nolan and his honors attest to his ability to shape cinematic storytelling through unconventional instrumentation and precise sound design. As a result, the LP is not only a documentary companion to the film, but also an autonomous contribution to the current discourse on film scores.
