The self-titled debut from Sydney’s Station Model Violence is a dense and hypnotic take on post-punk, built from propulsive rhythms, jangling guitars, deep vocals and serpentine saxophone. Featuring members of R.M.F.C., Total Control, Straightjacket Nation and KX Aminal, the band brings together a wealth of experience from Australia’s underground scene without sounding tied to any single tradition.

Across its ten tracks, Station Model Violence balances urgency with a strangely immersive calm. Songs like “Learn To Hate”, “Leisure” and “Apex Calling” lock into repetitive grooves, while the eight-minute “Heat” stretches that approach into something almost trance-like — a slow-burning, monolithic piece driven by guitars, rhythm and saxophone.

Recorded in Melbourne and Sydney and mixed by Mikey Young, the album feels deliberately layered and dense, allowing its melodies and rhythms to reveal themselves gradually. Released through Anti-Fade and Static Shock, Station Model Violence is a striking debut: dark, physical and deeply hypnotic, with enough tension and atmosphere to reward repeated listens.
