Released in 2024 on Sub Pop Records, News of the Universe is the fifth studio album from California’s La Luz. Led by singer and guitarist Shana Cleveland, the album expands the band’s psychedelic surf-rock roots into a more atmospheric blend of psychedelic rock, dream pop and indie rock.

Shaped by a period of profound personal change, the album explores vulnerability, love, uncertainty and transformation, turning difficult experiences into something warm and luminous. Produced by Maryam Qudos, the record combines expressive guitars, dreamy harmonies, dubbed-out textures and spacious arrangements.

Tracks like “Strange World,” “Dandelions,” “Always in Love” and “Moon in Reverse” balance intimacy with a cosmic sense of scale.
