Sixteen Horsepower
Sackcloth 'N' Ashes LP vinyl

The “Sackcloth 'N' Ashes” LP by 16 Horsepower is being released as a vinyl reissue on Music On Vinyl. The 180-gram album includes an insert and takes listeners back to the Denver-based band’s debut full-length, originally released in 1996.

At the center is David Eugene Edwards, whose distinctive songwriting and unmistakable vocals shape the character of 16 Horsepower. On “Sackcloth 'N' Ashes,” the band combines a remote Americana atmosphere with edgy country rock, punk energy, and deliberately offbeat humor. Fiddle motifs, banjo, lap steel guitar, bandoneon, upright bass, and cello give the tracks an unusual sonic character, with Jean-Yves Tola on drums and Keven Soll contributing bass and cello.
